MY FAMILY
My father Maduwela Hewage Mervyn Fernando was born in 27th of June 1944 who studied at Isipatana College, Colombo 05 and started his career Sri Lanka Ports Authority and worked until his retirement day up to age of 60 years as the Finance Manager (Revenue/PT/ST/Navigation Dues). Servive in Ports Authority is over 35 years.
He is Remarkable on converting the Port Tariff from Sri Lankan Rupees to US Dollars which stabilized the Ports Authority income over the de-valuation of rupeee.
eg:- If a paticular charge for a service is Rs. 100/= when the US$ 1= Rs 100/= it receives 1 US $ for the service. When US$ = Rs. 200/=. The same particular service receives only half a dollar.Once it changed the Tariff to US $, if a particular service is 1$ when (1$=Rs.100/=) receives Rs.100/=.When (1$=Rs.200/=),the same service receives Rs.200/=.
